Loan Criteria

Character

SCC considers character a major issue when evaluating a loan application. Issues such as the owner's ability to manage a company, her industry expertise, or credit history are taken into consideration. The loan applicant must demonstrate a high level of character through business competency and reasonable credit history to be eligible for funding.

Collateral

Not unlike most lenders, SCC considers available collateral when evaluating a loan application. If there is not a reasonable amount of collateral in the business for the loan request, SCC may require the business owner to use personal assets to substitute or supplement.

Cash Flow

SCC expects all loans to be repaid within the terms of the loan agreement. When evaluating a loan application, SCC must determine the adequacy of the current cash flow within the business or from some other source to repay the loan. In the case of a business start-up, the business owner should have access to a secondary source of cash flow for debt repayment.
